POP GOES THE WARHOL

Warhol was born to be a Pop Sensation and every image of him whether at Studio 54 or at his legendary Factory proves it. He was a frequent sighting in New York but a rare one in London where I interviewed him for his diamond dust self portraits at the legendary Anthony d'Offay Gallery sharing street space with a haberdashers and a pink façade curry house - a regular 'backwater' off the Oxford Street strip. His arrival was peppered with photographers, fans, art critics and super-sleek private view attendees and he was signing everything on request from million dollar cheques (worthless of course!) to press releases, adoring men's white jeans to...my tape recorder! But there was an incident with a glass table...
